How to Fish Killscore Multipliers: Every Bonus and Trigger
Updated 2026-09-02 · Steam How to Fish
How to Fish killscore multipliers are style bonuses that multiply together on a single kill and raise what the creature sells for. The biggest documented bonuses are Impressive at 2.00x, then 360, Explosion and Dogfight at 1.50x each; the smallest is Noob Kill at 1.01x, which only fires when nothing else does. Every value below is player-tested, from the community guide "Detailed Killscore Multipliers and how to Trigger them EXACTLY!". Dazed Games has not published a killscore table in any patch note from 1.0.4 to 1.0.11.
Killscore is not a separate currency. Press F to inspect any item and the panel shows Value, Cooking multiplier, Weight and Killscore, which is how players confirmed a stylish kill sells for more than a plain one. Grill cooking is a separate 1.5x on top, covered on the fish page.
General killscore multipliers
These can all be active at once on the same kill. Trigger conditions in the right column are as the guide author measured them.
| Bonus | Multiplier | How to trigger it |
|---|---|---|
| Impressive | 2.00x | 5 or more other bonuses already active on the kill |
| 360 | 1.50x | A 320 degree rotation detected within the last 1 second |
| Killsteal | 1.30x | The player credited must not have hit the fish, and the fish must be under 30 percent HP |
| Headshot | 1.25x | Trigger wording not confirmed yet; the source table lists the value only |
| Last Bullet | 1.25x | Trigger wording not confirmed yet; the source table lists the value only |
| One Shot | 1.25x | Trigger wording not confirmed yet; the source table lists the value only |
| Overkill | 1.25x | Damage dealt exceeds the creature's HP plus 70. Not on bosses |
| Endangered | 1.25x | Kill an endangered species; the guides disagree on which fish those are |
| Finally | 1.10x | More than 5 shots fired since the fight started |
Three of those rows carry a value but no measured trigger: the guide's table prints Headshot, Last Bullet and One Shot with their multipliers and nothing else, so the exact conditions are not confirmed yet. Impressive rewards greed: it needs five other bonuses before it applies, then doubles everything. Endangered is the only bonus tied to the creature rather than the shot, and those fish are also the trade item for the pufferfish bait, so do not burn one you still need for the quest. The two player guides name different species: the post-game achievement guide lists needlefish, bowl fish and sea horse, while the Ultimate achievement guide lists pigeonfish, sea horse and the fish-in-an-aquarium, so only sea horse appears on both.
An older achievement guide lists a shorter set under looser names (360 1.5x, Headshot 1.25x, Last bullet 1.25x, "From the air" 1.25x, "Overpower" 1.25x, No scope 1.2x, "Close range" 1.1x). Where the two overlap the numbers agree, so those read as Aerial, Overkill and Point Blank. Neither list is official.
Conditional multipliers: one per group
Three groups are mutually exclusive. You get whichever one in the group applies, never two.
| Group | Bonus | Multiplier | Trigger |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sights | No Scope | 1.20x | At least 0.25 seconds since you last aimed down sights. Takes priority over Quick Scope |
| Sights | Quick Scope | 1.10x | Kill inside a 0.5 second grace period after aiming |
| Range | Longshot | 1.30x | More than 25 units of distance |
| Range | Point Blank | 1.10x | Less than 2 units of distance |
| Air | Dogfight | 1.50x | Both the player and the creature are airborne |
| Air | Aerial | 1.25x | Only the player is airborne |
| Air | Fly Fishing | 1.25x | Only the creature is airborne |
Dogfight is the best hidden bonus here: jump, then shoot a seagull or flying fish in mid-air for 1.50x instead of the 1.25x either half gives alone. Because No Scope only needs a quarter second of not aiming, a laser sight beats a scope for score farming. Patch 1.0.11 added an aim toggle option, which makes it easier to be sure you are hipfiring, and removed the iron sight as a purchasable. Attachment prices are on the weapons page.
Melee, explosives and the Noob kill
| Bonus | Multiplier | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Explosion | 1.50x | Trigger wording not confirmed yet; the source table lists the value only |
| Melee | 1.05x | Trigger wording not confirmed yet; the source table lists the value only |
| Noob Kill | 1.01x | Only applies when zero other bonuses are active |
Explosion and Melee are printed the same way as Headshot and its neighbours, with a number and no condition, so which weapons count for each is not confirmed yet. Explosion at 1.50x is still the biggest of the three, but dynamite is a poor farm on other grounds: the post-game guide's advice is to treat it as a way to stock up on food rather than a cash strategy, since bombing water pays slower than fishing properly, and it warns that using it in a fight will kill you. Patch 1.0.11 made that literal, since your own explosives now kill you even with friendly fire turned off.
Multikill bonuses
Multikills chain while you keep killing inside a 3 second window from the last kill.
| Bonus | Multiplier |
|---|---|
| Double Kill | 1.05x |
| Triple Kill | 1.10x |
| Quad Kill | 1.15x |
| Penta Kill | 1.20x |
| Multi Kill | 1.25x rising to 1.50x |
The guide lists the cap as 1.50x at a killstreak of 10 or more. No guide describes a repeatable way to chain kills for score; the closest thing on record is a one-off achievement trick, where players drop a dead fish as bait and set off dynamite when a seagull comes to feed, and that is written for a single bird rather than a streak.
How multipliers stack
They multiply, exactly, and the game names each bonus on the kill banner as it applies. A headshot (1.25) on an airborne bird while you are airborne (Dogfight 1.50), from the hip (No Scope 1.20), at range (Longshot 1.30), in one shot (One Shot 1.25) is 3.66x, and Impressive at five bonuses doubles that to 7.31x.
Two player-reported examples from the post-game achievement guide: an assault rifle kill on a seagull with six modifiers came out at 6.15x, while the same setup with a maxed pistol reached only 5.16x because the pistol cannot hit hard enough for Overkill, and dropping Triple Kill from that run leaves 4.69x.
Reaching a 5x killscore for Impressive
The Impressive achievement needs a 5x killscore multiplier. The player-tested recipe:
- Fit a laser sight so you can aim without going into sights. Guns are hitscan with no bullet drop, so hipfire at range is an aim check, not a lead check.
- Use an assault rifle. It hits hard enough to trigger Overkill on a seagull; a maxed pistol does not.
- Find a seagull in flight, jump, and take a headshot from the hip at distance. That is Headshot, Dogfight, No Scope, Longshot and One Shot at once, and Impressive doubles the total.
- Tap fire rather than holding, so each killing shot keeps One Shot alive.
Do it post-game. After the credits you restart on island 1 with all your gear and every island open, which is when trick-shot achievements get easy. See achievements for all 28.
Two achievements sit at the opposite end. Noob wants a kill with no multiplier at all, and players do it by emptying a magazine into a grounded fish with a ranged weapon so nothing stylish registers and only Noob Kill applies. 360 no scope wants a full rotation before the shot, hipfire only, and players report it can be split across several mouse swipes on low sensitivity. Note the mismatch: the achievement asks for 360 degrees, but the guide measured the score trigger at 320 degrees inside 1 second.
Is killscore worth farming for money?
Not really. Players who have tested it say setting up high multipliers reliably takes more effort than simply fishing island 5, even though a high score does lift what the kill is worth at the merchant. For speedruns the verdict is the same: no-scopes and 360s are free extra cash while you are already shooting, not a route to plan around. The Bean achievement routes barely mention multipliers, and the beginner guide treats fishing volume as the money engine.
Difficulty may matter indirectly. Patch 1.0.9 added easy mode (creatures have 25 percent less health) and hard mode (25 percent more). Since Overkill needs damage above HP plus 70, a smaller health pool should make it easier to reach, but that is not confirmed yet.
Settings and mods that help
Nothing here needs a mod, but the kill banner is easier to read with the More Colours mod on Thunderstore, which adds a Colours screen in Options for recolouring score popups, hitmarkers, money and drip text. Cheat-style mods that edit multipliers directly, plus aimbots, cheat menus and god-mode packages, do exist on Thunderstore; this wiki does not cover them. Weapon looks are on the skins page.
Sources and last check
Checked 2 September 2026. Every multiplier value, trigger window, exclusive group and the 1.50x multikill cap is player-tested, from the Steam Community guide "Detailed Killscore Multipliers and how to Trigger them EXACTLY!". The 6.15x and 5.16x examples, the F-inspect panel contents, the 360 leniency note, the dynamite-as-food advice and the "not a practical money farm" verdict are player-reported, from "How to Fish - All 28 Achievements + Post-Game Route" (version 1.0.4), which also gives one of the two endangered species lists. The shorter conflicting multiplier list, the other endangered species list and the bait-and-detonate seagull trick are from "The Ultimate Guide to Unlocking All Achievements". Only the patch facts are official: the aim toggle, iron sight removal and own-explosives change in patch 1.0.11 (1 September 2026), and the difficulty values in patch 1.0.9 (24 August 2026). More Colours details come from its Thunderstore page. Dazed Games has never published killscore values, so read every number above as community measurement.
